Tutorial: How to make a Pop'n'Cuts card

Hi everyone! Hope your week is going as well as ours. We're looking forward to having Karen back from holidays on Monday, and getting really excited that Christmas is less than a month away.

In that spirit, we have opened a Christmas Clearance room! We've cleared out all excess stock and slashed the prices. Products include: paper punches, glimmer mists, embossing folders, dies, paper packs, texture boutiques, embellishments, stamps and more!

Here is a quick tutorial for making an easy (but effective!) Christmas card for the holiday season.

Use the Sizzix Pop'n'Cuts base plate (no insert) to create the base for your card. Run the plate through your die cutting machine with a piece of 6x12" plain card (we used dark blue Bazzil).

Then run another piece of 6x12" plain card (we used light blue Bazzil) through your die cutting machine. This time, put a Pop'n'Cuts insert in your base (we used "Noel"). The base's magnetic bottom will hold your insert in place while you cut.

*REMEMBER: Line up the scoring lines on the base plate with the scoring lines on the insert (see below).

This will create the "pop up" part of your card.

Fold the card along the score lines to make it sit up. You may wish to trim your insert down to fit inside the card. If you are doing this, use a corner rounder to round the edges after you've trimmed it.

Use a small piece of patterned paper and place it over the word or image in the middle of your insert die. Run this through the machine again, and trim it down with scissors so that there are no extra edges on it.

Outline the word or shape with a glue marker, then sprinkle very fine glitter, like Fairy Dust or Stickles over the word. Dust it off, and place it over the word or shape on the insert.

Apply the word or shape to the insert, and add extra embellishments. For this card, we used a Martha Stewart snowflake decorative strip punch. Stick the insert on the base, and viola! You have a beautiful Christmas pop up card.
