Hi all
I have been very remiss in not posting for awhile so please forgive me!  I have been caught up in Olympic excitement!  It's been fabulous watching all the colour and spectacle!

Meanwhile, I am putting the call out to all card makers.
We have had a request by a customer to ask all our card makers to donate a card with envelope to send to our service men and women overseas so they have english cards they can send to their families. So please have a read and think about dropping a card in to help with the worthy cause.

A Request for Your Support
My son is currently deployed on his 2nd tour of the Middle East and it never gets any easier. This time around I would like to do what I can, with what I know, to help support them as much as possible......and this is where your help is requested. They have very slim pickings in the way of greeting cards over there, as they are all in Arabic and tailored to their own customs. My plan is to donate so many hand made cards that there will be more than enough, for not only our troops, but to have so many that they can be donated to the British and US troops as well.
I would like to share with you a story that was recently told to me.....and still tugs at my heart. A US marine, deployed to Afghanistan for the first time, wanted to send his little 2 year old son a card for his birthday but couldn't find anything suitable (being written in Arabic etc). He came across hand made cards that had been sent across from home and found one with a soccer ball on it. The Marine was reduced to tears because he found this one particular card with the soccer ball on it and his son loved soccer. Needless to say he chose that one and sent it to his son. He was so happy just to be able to send this card to his son and also so touched that this small thing made both he and his son's day.
It's always just the smallest and simplest things that can make such a HUGE difference, even just for one day, in someone's life.
All types and occasions of cards for both males and females will be gratefully accepted – Birthday cards for kids, parents, friends, husbands and wives, Anniversary cards, Miss You cards, Just Because cards, Pet cards, Be Home Soon cards, Father's Day cards (in September), Christmas cards and maybe just cards with no particular occasion so it can be personalised by the recipient. Can you please ensure that you include an envelope and, if possible, bag each card and envelope individually (if you are unable to do that, that's ok). Simply drop off your cards to the craft department at Photo Continental whereupon I will collect all the cards from the shop and send them to my son who will then distribute them accordingly. I will be sending the card packages to my son as often as possible over the next 4-5 months - so as soon as one parcel has gone, I'll be onto the next one.
There will be no money changing hands as all the cards will be donated to our troops to try and make their deployment just a little bit easier and just maybe, one of you might be able to make a huge difference in one of their lives too. Please also feel free to put your name on the back, i.e. "Handmade by ........" I also thought with those of you on Facebook, you might like to add that on the back as well as you never know where your card is going to end up. Who knows you might end up being good friends with someone on the other side of the world!!!
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this request and I look forward to sending off our first package.
Warmest regards

Carol Tooth

Also we have the new Couture Creation Romantique collection of embossing folders in stock and they are beautiful and the August DoCraft magazine and stock has hit the floor and there are some exquisite designs and Christmas ideas for those of you that are like me and start your Christmas card preparation around now!

So come in and say hello and drop a card in for our service men and women overseas and see what's new in PC.

Cheers
Linda and Karen
